SIHH 2015 trends #3: resizing

Size matters.
This is why many watch companies are changing their collection introducing small watches that better suit to thin wrists. Given the importance of this choice, many of those changes have been announced in Autumn or before the SIHH 2015 opened.

Lange & Söhne modernize the Saxonia collection with the aim to further improve the legibility of the dials and their aesthetic balance. The solid-gold applied hour markers feature double baton appliques at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, and the Dual-Time version introduces numerals on the subsidiary seconds dial. Beside this, the size of the case have been reduced to an almost-vintage 35mm diameter; also the Dual Time case was reduced from 40mm to 38,5mm, becoming as big as the automatic version of the Saxonia.

Also IWC reduces the size of the Portofino case, its most classic collection. The automatic version, measuring 40mm, is now reduced to 37mm, suitable both for a feminine public and to the thinner male wrists. The new small case is available in many versions and with complications such as the dual time or the moon fases, always featuring diamonds on the bezel or on the dial.
