Baselworld trends #4: colours

8 Апрель 2014 | , , , ,

Colours are a trend, in fine watchmaking as in fashion.

Patek Philippe created a limited version of the 5950, with exceptional stainless-steel case and bracelet: three colours of the dial, each of them produced only in 10 pieces.

Rolex introduces its new version of the re-and-blue bezel on the GMT_MASTER II, this time made of ceramic. An exceptional achievement on two counts, the innovation consists of creating a red ceramic disc – a colour that is extremely difficult to obtain – and then locally modifiying the chemical c omposition of each grain, right to the core of the ceramic, to change the red into blue over only half the insert with a perfectly clear demarcation between the two colours. New colours are introduced also for Oyster Perpetual dials and for the Milgauss with the green glass.

The Chanel black-and-white tradition is interrupted by a light blue touch in this new version of the J12. Numbrs on the dials are created by a patented solidification process of the superluminova, to light the dial in the dark.

Yellow stands for fastness and sport style in Chopard 2014 edition of the Grand Prix de Monaco.
